2 Broke Girls: Caroline's Necklace

Who makes the original two broke girls necklace? I don't know...but I make my own versions!

Caroline's Necklace: Two Broke Girls

The only new show this year that I have grown to love is 2 Broke Girls.  2 Broke Girls is a quirky comedy about two best friends who are struggling to get by while they pursue their dream of starting a cupcake business. One of the main characters, Caroline, wears the most adorable double strand pearl necklace in almost every scene. I fell in love with this necklace as quickly as I fell in love with the show, so I had to make a necklace for myself. I get so many compliments on this whenever I wear it, I have started to get requests from friends as well as strangers for a Caroline Necklace of their own.

This necklace wasn't just fun to make, but it is such a great inspiration piece. There are so many different things you could do to make different versions of this necklace (different chain, different color/size pearls) and either way it would still be adorable.

I promise to have a tutorial on this necklace posted in the near future!  Are there any pieces of jewelry you've been lusting after?

If you don't want to make this necklace and would rather buy one ready to go, then visit my etsy shop for one :   https://www.etsy.com/listing/112774110/2-broke-girls-necklace

New perfumes

It has been almost two months since I last posted, I have missed being on here!

Anyways, I recently stumbled upon a few new perfumes I thought I would share. With summer quickly approaching, I had to include these 2 perfumes because not only do they smell lovely, but they are perfect for Spring and Summer.

The first one is a new spin on a classic: Light Blue Dreaming in Portofino. This is an updated version of Light Blue, which was launched in 2001. You might be wondering what makes this new version different than the original. The best way I know to describe it is there is more of a floral scent as well as a musk tone. It is still very fresh and light.

The second perfume is new altogether, it is Candy by Prada. I first loved this scent when I came across a sample in a magazine. The main notes for this perfume are caramel and musk. It is a darker, richer perfume. All it takes is one spray and you are good to go, anything more than one or two sprays and it is way too strong.

So these are some of my new favorites. To see the list of my all time favorites, refer to this post from last year http://www.prideandpearls.com/2011/02/favorite-perfumes.html

Let me know if you come across any new scents that are worth trying!

Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 and Tarte natural lipstick

One of my favorite cosmetic pieces is my Urban Decay Naked palette. Recently, Urban Decay came out with the Naked Palette 2. Even though the "2" is still a nice palette, I definitely prefer the original palette, as I find it more wearable.

My other recent must have is from Tarte, which is an organic makeup brand. Tarte is a recent discovery of mine, I am in love with this brand and wish I would have found it sooner. The newest product by Tarte that I am loving is the 24/7 natural lip sheer lipstick spf 15. Lately I have been loving hot pink and red tones for lips, but this natural shade made me fall in love with a simple lip again. The name says it all: 24/7 natural lipstick. To be honest, whenever I hear the word natural, sometimes I get bored. I think of the word natural and I think "naked", nothing is there. Even though this lipstick is very natural looking,  it gives a beautiful, natural glow. A very light rose color that would work with any skintone.  That is what makes this lipstick so amazing to me, it is so easy to wear and anyone can pull it off. Budgetwise, this liptstick is the one piece that you need because you can wear it every day. I love the subtle color it gives, while remaining natural and easy to wear.

Available at Sephora

I urge you to try Tarte's natural lipstick on, it works with the natural color of your lips to develop its own shade.

Park Avenue Princess

No, I'm not talking about that kind of Park Avenue Princess. I'm talking about a bronzer.

In fact, this bronzer, which is made by  Tarte, is my new favorite. Tarte happens to be an organic makeup company. Everything is natural and better for your skin. Also, they do cruelty free testing which always makes me happy as a consumer.  I had never tried anything by them before but when I was at Sephora the other day looking for a new bronzer, I saw Park Avenue Princess by Tarte and immediately loved the color. The bronzer has just the right amount of shimmer to it and I love the texture of this particular bronzer. It is supposed to be good for your skin. To read more about it, visit

I had been using MAC before and the bronzer I used by them doesn't even come close to my love for this one by Tarte. It goes on so smoothly, I highly recommend looking at the Tarte brand if you haven't before.

I will definitely be trying more Tarte products in the future. Have any of you tried any of their products before? If so, which ones and do you recommend them?

Review - Oscar Brandi hair product and also morrocon/aragon oil

So, I have wavy, unruly hair. It also tends to get flat on top. When I saw this product at Sephora I was excited by what it claimed to do...and I'm happy to report it didn't dissapoint! It instantly makes my hair feel smooth and relaxed, but at the same time gives volume to the roots. So it definitely did everything it said it would do. I highly recommend this product to anyone who seeks a product that will straighten, smooth, and add volume.

$28.00

There is no residue from the spray, and the hair remains soft no matter how much you use. All other volumizing products I have used before always left a residue, this one does not!

Moving on to the next product I wanted to share with you, Aragan oil, or also referred to as Moroccon oil, is something I've been using for about six months now. Aragan oil is known for hyrdrating and moisturizing skin and hair. Being someone who has put my hair through A LOT, (all sorts of colors) I definitely have some split ends and damaged areas. I wanted to find a product that would really help saturate my dry hair and get it back to a healthy state. I can tell you that my hair is noticeably stronger and the split ends are hardly noticeable now.  I spray two sprays while my hair is still wet, then blow dry. You can consider this a daily moisturizer treatment for your hair.

You can purchase this from the beauty supply store or from most regular beauty supply chain stores like Sally's. Josie Maran makes one for Sephora that I hear works well.

Favorite Perfumes

I love perfume. Everytime I walk by someone and they don't cough, I feel as though I have failed as a woman. Here's a list of my favorite perfumes.

Tip- apply perfume before you get dressed so it doesn't stain your fabric. For perfumes you won't be using for a while, store them in an air tight container and put them in the refrigerator- yes, that sounds weird, but it will preserve your perfume. Havent you ever had a perfume go bad? Total bummer. The fridge trick works.

Good read for women- The Real Secrets Women Only Whisper

Lately I've been more into reading, which is really weird ,because I hadn't read a book front to back in years. Anyways, a friend of mine introduced me to The Real Secrets Women Only Whisper. I read excerpts from the book and was immediately intrigued. I am still very early in the book so I will keep you updated on how great it is.  I purchased this book through my Kindle, but it is available in every major bookstore. The cover is deceiving because it looks like something maybe only an older woman would enjoy, but I know plenty of young girls/women who love this book. It's a great read for women of all ages.

Cheap find! - Blazers

The other day as I was about to leave the mall, I walked by Charlotte Russe and thought "why not?". So glad I did. I got this cute blazer for $10.00.  (It also comes in red) The sales associate told me that they were new arrivals, but for whatever reason they were on sale for $10.00, originally $30.00  Talk about a good deal!

I love blazers because you can make them look

Professioinal
Sexy
Sophisticated
Playful

or all of the above!

Please disregard my naked mannequin, just wanted to  show you what the blazer looks like

.Review- Mascara : Maybeline's Stilletto Lash

For several months I haven't had to worry about mascara. Why, you ask? Because I have been getting eyelash extensions. However, I haven't had time in weeks to get them filled, and am currently going to take a break from the extensions. Having said that, I have been looking for a drugstore mascara that gives length and volume. I have bought the expensive department store mascara's before, and have yet to find one I truly love, so I assume to just stick with drugstore mascara. Anywho, I started trying Stilletto Lash by Maybeline last week and have been loving it. Right away  I saw the length it gave to my eyelashes. It also has a nice, long brush. I don't remember the last time I bought a mascara that I liked this much, and for under $6.00 to boot!

Hair Product Review - It's a 10

This haircare line was introduced to me a few months ago by my manicurist. She told me to try the It's a 10 Miracle Hair Mask (I had been complaining about my hair being dry, turns out, bleaching the **** out of it every month isn't so healthy for it afterall).  Anyways, I immediately fell in love with this product, and started trying other items offered by this line (The miracle moisture shampoo and the miracle daily conditioner)  Pay attention to the salons that carry this line- I have noticed the price points vary depending where you buy it. I buy my Its a 10 products from a salon that is close to my house, but not my actual salon. At the salon by my house the hair mask is 25.00   At the salon I get my hair done at, the miracle mask is 34.00 ! So again, pay attention to the price before you buy.  If you are having trouble finding a salon that carries this line, go to its-a-ten.com to place your orders. Most salons are starting to carry this line though, so hopefully you can find it in person.
